Some of you have already visited it, some others have walked it and some of you have definitely heard of it. The "Pavliani Park" is the most famous theme park in Greece, addressed not only to our little friends but also to older explorers. Its name tells us about its location, which is the village of Pauliani in the south of the prefecture of Fthiotida. The village is built on the south-eastern slopes of Oita and is divided into two settlements, Ano and Kato Pauliani. It is inhabited by approximately 360 permanent residents, it is 230 kilometers from Athens (approximately 2.5 hours of driving) and 143 kilometers from Patras.
About 30 years ago young men and women of the village decided to create a theme park. With "brain" Vangelis Zografos and with a lot of manual and personal work, they created a path that year by year grew and became richer with "exhibits"! The route of the trail is circular and its degree of difficulty is easy. Which makes it ideal for families with small children.
Of course, the older explorers looking for nature tours could not be left out. The circle of the path we walked is 8.31 kilometers with an initial altitude of 921 meters and a positive altitude of +469 meters. Along the way we will come across hammocks over streams, painted trees, swings, toys and anything else the human mind can imagine. For most of the route we will walk parallel to the river, which every' all its course will form small waterfalls and small lakes. Anyone who feels brave and can stand it has nothing to lose by testing their endurance by taking a dip in the cold waters of the river! On the other hand, those who do not want to try something similar, can relax in a hammock or swing that they will meet along the way. As we continue our tour in the heart of the forest, towering plane trees, walnut and chestnut trees will surround us adding to the puzzle of our adventure beautiful images.
The route is quite well marked and there is no fear of getting lost! The only thing you will have to worry about is whether you will have enough battery to capture as many images as possible! Highlight of the route is considered "The Throne" (or Iron Throne) which is placed at the highest point of the route with a commanding view of the surrounding area. The idea of the throne is taken from the popular series "Game of Thrones" and a photo on this particular throne is considered almost necessary, as it is the most-photographed point of the route!
At the end of the route, if you need a rest break you can visit the Casa de Papel canteen at the beginning of the park. Ideal place for a hot chocolate or a refreshing soft drink, under the leaves of the trees. When it's time to eat, you can browse the settlements of Ano and Kato Pauliani where you will surely find many "delicious" suggestions. Of course, in a single article we will not be able to describe in detail what you can find in Paulian Park. But the only thing we could guarantee with certainty is that no one will be left unsatisfied. That's why don't stick to plans any longer and dare a visit to this magical place. Whether it is spring, autumn or winter, Pauliani and its park are considered an ideal destination for all seasons of the year!
